Mike, in a recent post you wrote: "you've got to convince some folks who do
have money to fund it, or you have to round up a whole lot of people like
yourself with a little money, or both. So far, advocates of At Large have
done neither."

So far, we advocates of the At-Large have been abiding by the processes
ratified by the ICANN Board. The Board directed the President and CEO in
consultation with the ALSC to begin the contingency planning for carrying out
an At-Large election. Accordingly, advocates of the At-Large have been
awaiting the implementational details that were promised to the community and
have yet to be posted.

You are a businessman. Would you commit your organization's dollars to a
group that has no incorporated status, that has no mechanism for the receipt
of funds, that has no Charter, and that has not been formally approved as an
institution by ICANN? Most likely you would take a wait-and-see attitude...
especially if the former CEO of ICANN is pronouncing the At-Large nearly dead.

We have been respectfully waiting for the ALSC to complete its work, and for
ICANN to have the courtesy to re-open the members.icann website. It's easy
to point the finger of blame and to argue that we have not been pulling our
weight. Had ICANN decided to allow ICANN At-Large Directors or At-Large
advocates to participate as contributing members of the ALSC, perhaps we
would not be in this quagmire.

ICANN shut us out of the process and determined that only ICANN insiders
would build the home for the At-Large. Is it any wonder that we too must
necessarily adopt a wait-and-see attitude? What did you expect?
